Brandon’s senior session took place just a few days after finishing his junior year at O’Dea High School.  I met Brandon and his parents at Seward Park in Seattle.  It was a gorgeous evening and the place was packed.  The parks along Lake Washington Blvd are new to me, so I went location scouting ahead of time.  I’m glad I did!  We started Brandon’s session off at what looks like a secluded stretch of rocky beach.  You would never know from the pictures just how small an area we were shooting in!   I love how these pictures turned out.

Brandon was so easy to work with.  He told me that he loves having his picture taken (literal music to a photographer’s ear!) and it’s obvious that he’s completely at ease in front of the camera!  He’s got such a genuine and joyful smile.

Brandon runs track to stay in shape for his true passion, playing football and wearing his maroon and gold jersey for the O’Dea Fighting Irish.  Here’s where that genuine smile turns into a fierce football look.

We moved on to our next location and used this scenic stretch of the Lake Washington Blvd Trail.

One more park along Lake Washington Blvd and our last stop for the evening.  Thank you, Brandon, for a great session!  Enjoy your summer vacation!

The opportunity to meet another Bishop Blanchet senior led me to a new location.  I met with Abbey and her mom, Gladys, two weeks ago at the Hiram M. Chittenden Ballard Locks and Gardens.  I had heard of the Locks but had no idea of the park-like setting surrounding them.  Not only was the location beautiful, but the weather was amazing.

We really couldn’t have asked for a lovelier evening.  So many trees were in full bloom and that wonderful golden light sparkled in the background.  These are the first images I captured and Abbey was completely at ease and so natural in front of the camera.  She knocked the entire session out of the park.   Keep scrolling!

Cheering on the Varsity Squad for football and basketball kept Abbey busy during the fall and winter sports seasons.  It was fun to incorporate her cheer uniform into her session.  With AP exams under her belt, she is currently focused on track and field where she competes for the Bishop Blanchet Braves in the high jump.

Gladys wasn’t keen on being photographed, but some gentle prodding got it done.  I’m sure she and Abbey will both treasure this mother-daughter image.

The gardens just didn’t disappoint.  As we walked through the park, one beautiful floral backdrop after another appeared.

One last outfit change and we finished the session at the historic Administration Building.  Thank you, Abbey!  I had a great time exploring the gardens with you and your mom.  Your confidence in front of the camera let your natural beauty shine through!  Enjoy the last two weeks of school, have a fantastic graduation celebration and all the best as you continue onto UW!  Go dawgs!

I met Joseph and his mom, Corrie, at the UW Seattle campus recently for Joseph’s portrait session.  He’s a senior at Bishop Blanchet High School and graduating in just a few weeks.

Joseph has played football for the Braves for the last four years.  I’m glad he choose to incorporate his passion for the sport into his session.

He got his game face on and looked fierce!

The location for Joseph’s shoot depended on which college acceptance letter he was going to choose.  The week before his scheduled session, he made the big decision to attend UW!  During Dawg Days in the fall, he’ll have the opportunity to touch the iconic UW columns, a tradition he’ll repeat at graduation.

The Gothic architecture at UW makes the most amazing backdrops.

Joseph wasn’t convinced about his tie, but his mom and I agreed that he looked absolutely dapper!

He has the most genuine smile and was a joy to photograph.

I was thrilled that Corrie agreed to get into a few pictures.  She is a proud Husky Alum and I think this is just the sweetest picture of these two.  Joseph has a lot on his plate with AP exams and numerous senior functions before graduation at the end of the month.  Congratulations, Joseph!  Thank you for a great session and I wish you every success at UW.  Go dawgs!

The University of Washington is no doubt a beautiful campus, but it really shines when those Yoshino Cherry Trees bloom!

That’s exactly what Emily was looking for when she planned her senior session.

Even thought the spring weather couldn’t quite make up it’s mind, it didn’t stop us from having an awesome  session.  We ducked under the pretty doorways when the rain showers hit and talked about Emily’s studies and her plans for the future.

When the sun peeked out, we captured stunning images like these!

Emily has the best smile and a natural confidence in front of the camera.  She was an absolute joy to photograph!

As a member of Phi Mu, Emily wanted to incorporate one of the dedicated benches on campus into her session.

Emily came up with the idea for this shot and the Gothic architecture of the Quad buildings framed her perfectly!

I have to compliment Emily because her wardrobe, hair and makeup choices were spot on.  I call it “casual chic” and I would welcome her assistance any day as my personal shopper!  Both outfits were so flattering and captured her personality, while her hair and makeup accentuated her natural beauty.  So well done, Emily!

When you’re a Husky, you’ve got to flash a little U Dub spirit.

No portrait session at UW is complete without pictures in the iconic Suzzalo Library and at the Columns which stand in Sylvan Grove.  Tradition says you should touch the columns as a new Husky freshman year.  The tradition comes full circle as a soon to be graduating senior touches the columns once again.

We finished out Emily’s portrait session with a little bit of swag from her next home away from home.  With a bachelor degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences under her belt already, she’ll be heading to Syracuse University in the fall to pursue her graduate degree in Audiology.

Thank you again for a fantastic session!  I enjoyed meeting you and catching up with your mom.

Congratulations Emily!  Wishing you all the best!

    • Jo Muffett - What a beautiful photography job. These pictures (and their subject) are lovely. It turns out the flaky weather didn’t matter. 😉

      • lisa.a.gonzalez@comcast.net - Thank you so much for the very kind words! Emily made my job easy, until I had to narrow down all of the beautiful images, that is!ReplyCancel

Eli is a senior with the Class of 2019 at Bellarmine Prep.  This was my third senior session on the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows Bridge, and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a bad location over there!

Look at the views we had all to ourselves!

Eli’s mom is my sweet friend, Holly.  I was so glad she was willing to get in front of the camera, too, and I love this shot of mom and son together!

Eli is just the nicest guy, and he’s got such a great smile.

Eli plays varsity football for the Bellarmine Lions.  He brings a lot of heart for the game and his teammates to the field.  Lion Pride!

We were all eyeing this pier as we made our way down the beach.  It made for a great back drop for sure, but it also gave us a lot of different options for shooting under and on top of and next to it as well!

Mom snuck in for another shot with her boy.  Autumn is definitely starting to show its colors.

This is such a busy time for seniors!  In addition to school, sports, other extracurricular activities, and maybe even a part-time job, seniors are up to their chins with college applications and big life decisions.

Eli, I wish you all the best as you start the college admissions process and work towards your goal of becoming an Oregon Duck.  Have an awesome senior year!
