Discovery Park, in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood, was a new location for me and I’m so glad Olivia requested it! I met Olivia and her mom, Robin, last week at the visitor’s center to discuss our game plan for the shoot. The park is huge and we had a lot of ground to cover.
Before I get to these BEAUTIFUL images, though, I must give a shout out to these two. They arrived with big smiles, Olivia’s outfits neatly organized on hangars, simple and classic accessories, and Olivia’s hair and makeup done perfectly to enhance her natural beauty. It was obvious that Olivia and Robin had taken time to plan and I think Olivia’s amazing images are the result. These ladies get two huge thumbs up for a job well done!
Now, on to Olivia who is an upcoming senior at Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle. I asked what keeps her busy besides classes and the answer is running! She runs cross-country in the fall and track and field in the spring. With practices and meets taking up 6 days a week, she doesn’t have much in the way of free time. When she can relax, she loves to hang out with her friends.
These are some of the first shots I took of Olivia. She was so at ease and my camera loved her.
I asked Robin what she hoped I would capture of Olivia during her senior session and Robin replied, “her happiness, poise and beautiful smile.” I think these qualities shine through each and every image. Besides an amazing smile, Olivia has a quiet confidence that is really beautiful.
The former Ft. Lawton is located in Discovery Park and the military housing is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Don’t these homes make for stunning backgrounds?
When I asked Olivia what I would see if I looked in her closet, she answered, “jeans, tank tops and jewelry.” The outfits she choose for her senior session are true to her style and personality. As you can see in this post, casual clothing items with fun details paired with simple accessories look fantastic and well put together! This jewel toned T-shirt is a lovely color on Olivia and provides a nice pop against the grass, too.
While Olivia made a quick outfit change, the front porch of the historic home next door caught my eye, and I knew I wanted to incorporate the railings and columns. I asked Olivia for a serious look, which lasted for mere seconds before that smile was back. I don’t think she can help it!
We needed to move on to our next location, but we stumbled upon these wild sweet peas. I’m glad we didn’t pass them by.
It was a bit of a trek down to the water and we were trying to beat sunset. Thankfully we made it in time for a few shots by the lighthouse.Best of all, I sweet talked Robin into getting a picture with Olivia. She is so proud of this girl and I have no doubt she’s her biggest cheerleader. Robin and Olivia, you have my heart felt thanks for a truly amazing senior session! Olivia, best wishes as you return to Bishop Blanchet in the fall. I hope you have a fantastic senior year filled with success and fond memories. Best of luck as you also navigate the upcoming big life choices about college and majors. Keep on running and make your dreams come true.
