I met up with Rydar and his parents last week along the Ruston Way Waterfront. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for Rydar’s senior pictures and the setting was quintessential Pacific Northwest.
The PNW has pretty unique beaches and low tide gave us plenty of room to work. We had the beach pretty much to ourselves, so with this amazing backdrop, we were off to a great start.
Rydar is a member of Bellarmine’s robotics team, which made it to the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship in Houston, TX this past spring. Bellarmine’s Team 360 was one of more than 600 teams from around the world at the competition and Rydar is looking forward to another successful year, continuing in a leadership role and working on the drive team.
Robots aren’t the only thing Rydar likes to drive. He’s been converting a ’69 VW Bug into an electric car and it’s almost ready for its first test drive! How cool of a project is that?We finished up at the Chinese Reconciliation Gardens and drove a few minutes down Ruston Way to the Dickman Mill Park, a nod to Tacoma’s logging history. The saw head is a registered historic landmark and I thought it would be a fun backdrop for Rydar.
Rydar is interested in majoring in mechanical engineering and has had a busy summer making college visits.
Rydar, thank you for such a fun session. You did a great job! I hope you have a fantastic senior year! I wish you and Team 360 all the best and hope that you can take your build to Worlds again in the spring!
