Is there a better way to celebrate turning 13 and getting your braces off than to have a pretty photo session? I have been so excited for this shoot ever since my sweet friend mentioned wanting to have her daughter’s portraits done. We had a date and location on the calendar, but I frequently pass by this empty field in our neighborhood. I thought it would be fun to start with some tall grass shots, so I texted Josy to see what she thought. I’m glad she agreed!
I also spied these wildflowers on my daily walk, so I took some clippings home to create a little bouquet and surprise Arianna to use during our session.

Arianna is an avid soccer fan, but she doesn’t just sit on the sidelines or watch the game on tv. She spends a lot of time practicing and competing, even during the summer. She lives in athletic wear, but I think she picked out the prettiest dress that suited her perfectly!
I’m so glad that my friend, Josy, was willing to get into some pictures, too. She loves being Arianna’s mom and I hope they will always cherish these photos of them together.
We made the short drive to Tolmie State Park. It wasn’t very busy, so we had the bridge and the beach almost entirely to ourselves.
So pretty!Our PNW beaches don’t look anything like the powdery white sand beaches Josy and Arianna are used to in Brazil, but they are beautiful in their own way.
Arianna made one quick outfit change and we shot until the sun went down. One great thing about our beaches is the amazing driftwood that washes up onto the shore.
