I feel like I shot a styled session and I didn’t even organize anything. This beautiful young lady is Karla and she is an upcoming 2022 senior at Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma. She loves all things floral and showed up for her session with not only a vision in mind, but a well thought out wardrobe and all the details to complete her looks. I cannot even begin to describe what a joy it was to photograph her. I hope I did her vision justice!
The rose arbor was overflowing with miniature pink roses and the perfect spot to kick off Karla’s session. People passing by commented that her vibrant magenta hair complimented her dress as well as the flowers. Karla was simply at ease and stunning.
Should you bring a floppy sun hat to your session? Absolutely! I told you that she had all the details down from her head to her feet.
Karla’s creativity was just getting started. She didn’t just bring some flowers, but she arranged this beautiful little bouquet of flowers herself to incorporate into her images.
I just love the femininity of Karla’s dress and bouquet and how the boldness of her hair and makeup gives a pop of color and drama. Hair and makeup goals right here!
Karla’s next outfit change included this gorgeous emerald dress and elegant strappy heels. She mentioned she might bring her parasol and I’m so glad she did! Karla and her family spent several years living in Japan, so the parasol was more than a prop, it was a part of her history.
We were having such a lovely time at Point Defiance, but we needed to make the short drive to Point Ruston before the sun went down so we could capture the rest of Karla’s vision. Her love of flowers just may rival my own. I thought this idea of hers to use the flower heads to spell out 2022 was a really cute tribute to her upcoming graduation year.
Just when I thought I had seen all of the accessories, Karla came out with a flower crown. Her wardrobe choices gave me the opportunity to take some fun detail shots.
Karla had one more outfit change and one more idea up her sleeve that we were excited to capture before the sun set. Look at those muted pink skies in the background.
Here it is! The grand finale. Karla said she had looked at Pinterest for some inspiration for her senior session. I love how she found something that inspired her but she put her own twist on it.
“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.” After spending three wonderful hours with Karla and her mom, I can honestly say that this quote describes Karla perfectly. She blooms. Continue to bloom, Karla, and spread your joy and creativity with those around you. I hope you have a fun filled summer and when fall rolls around, I wish you an awesome senior year! Go Lions!
